AFCS (Armed Forces Compensation Scheme)

The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme pays compensation for an injury, illness or death caused by service on or after 6 April 2005. It makes two awards: a tax-free lump sum set by a 15-level tariff, and, for the more serious levels, a Guaranteed Income Payment for life. It is separate from your armed forces pension, and earlier service is covered by the War Pension Scheme instead.
