Updated 16 June 2026Checked against gov.uk & GAD

War Pension Scheme payments rose by 3.8% from the payday in the week of 6 April 2026, in line with the September 2025 CPI. The rates below are the tax-free weekly and yearly amounts by degree of disablement for service before 6 April 2005. For injuries on or after that date, see the AFCS instead. These figures are compensation, not your AFPS pension.

Key takeaways

  • War pensions rose 3.8% from April 2026, the same CPI uprating as armed forces pensions.
  • 20% or more is a weekly pension; below 20% is a one-off gratuity.
  • At 100%, the weekly rate is £248.10 (£12,946 a year).
  • Extra allowances (Constant Attendance, Mobility Supplement, Unemployability) can be added for severe cases.

Supplementary allowances

Severe or complex cases can add allowances on top of the basic pension. The main weekly rates from April 2026 are the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement at £89.25, Constant Attendance Allowance up to £187.20 at the exceptional rate, Unemployability Supplement at £153.25, and the Exceptionally Severe Disablement Allowance at £93.60. Eligibility depends on the condition and your circumstances.
